Testing is the only way to know whether your house has unsafe radon levels.

There are two common types of radon tests. A short term radon test takes anywhere from 2 -3  days, and is intended as a “snapshot” of your home’s radon levels.

Charcoal

The most common way to test for radon is with a charcoal test kit.  A charcoal canister (pictured below) absorbs radon atoms from the air that are then counted in a lab.

The canister is placed in the lowest livable area of the home for 48-72 hours.
